SCLA 9th grade retreat last minute questions!

SLCAers

A couple of last minute items!
We are so excited to have you join us for our retreat.  This will be a great experience!

Some commonly asked questions:

* Do I need a sleeping bag? - No, the YMCA provides bedding.

*How do I get a hold of someone in the event of an emergency? -
The phone number to the YMCA is 800-777-9622
Carrie Adams- SCLA Program Coordinator cell phone number is:
303-330-7708 ( Cell coverage is spotty in Estes!)

* I will be picking up my son or daughter early- what is the address to the YMCA? 2515 Tunnel Road, Estes Park, CO 80511

* My son/daughter has a medical condition- who should  I talk to?   We will have a table to check in to share info with the SCLA teachers that will be attending.

* We are not getting these emails to the addresses we want them- will you add a new email address?   We send all of our information via Infinite Campus.  Students should get used to checking their SVVSD accounts, and parents will need to modify their contact info.  We are unable to make changes.  We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

* Who is my child rooming with? The ambassadors made the room lists by putting students randomly in rooms.  Students are expected to stay in the rooms they are assigned for safety reasons.  Part of leadership is learning to adapt to unique situations.  This is one night.  Please be open to meeting new people regardless of who is in your room with you!

*Where else can I get info for SCLA?
Our blog is: http://sclaweekly.blogspot.com/

Our SCLA Website ( you can access from the SCHS website)
https://sites.google.com/a/svvsd.org/scla/home

Happy Summer SCLAers!

Hope you are enjoying some time off with family and friends.  I also hope you are gearing up for a great year of Leadership Academy and have spent some time this summer volunteering.  Are you keeping track of your hours on the site 100Squared?  Its a great place full of opportunities and a way for you to track your efforts.  Go to www.100squared.org  and check it out!  Thanks to Senior Brian Hardy for getting this up and running.

A few reminders of summer events-

SCLA is excited to host a great leadership evening on Tuesday, July 17th 6-8pm and would like to invite you to attend!

The group Health and Ed 4 Nepal is based out of Longmont and along with this group we  are excited to welcome Jaget Lama to Longmont to share with us information on the building of the school, the health clinic and the women's center.  Jaget is an experienced trekking guide and professional musician.    Jaget is also working with the Mountain Leadership Group who is producing a feature length documentary on life in the village of Kumari, Nepal, and their desire to bring health care and education to this village.

This will be a great evening of traditional Nepalese food, information, music and fun.

Tuesday, July 17 6-8pm
Everest Restaurant
2130 Main Street- Longmont
$15 per person includes dinner and a donation to help with this project.

You can pay at the door, but we would like an RSVP if you would like to attend, so they can prepare the correct amount of food.  The great folks at the Everest Restaurant are opening their restaurant especially for this event.   They are great supporters of SCLA.
